About Casinny Repairs: the crew Brisbane calls for unit renos
We're a six-person renovation crew from Albion that has spent nine years learning exactly how to rebuild apartments without driving body corporates or neighbours mad.
Started with one ute and a grudge
Dan Casinny spent six years subcontracting for big renovation companies and watched the same things go wrong: quotes that grew mid-job, crews that changed weekly, waterproofing nobody photographed.
In 2016 he started doing bathrooms on his own out of a borrowed ute. The pitch was boring on purpose: show up, photograph everything, finish on the date in the quote. Turned out that was a whole business model.
Word got around Albion's unit blocks first, then Newstead, then the Valley. These days we run one job at a time, six of us, and we still photograph the waterproofing before a single tile goes down.
Albion
QLD
One man, one ute
First solo jobs: bathrooms and repaints in Albion walk-ups. Learns the body corporate dance the hard way.
First employee, first kitchen
Marco joins as second pair of hands. We take on our first full kitchen strip-out in Newstead.
The quiet-years pivot
While bigger firms paused, we ran small crews inside occupied buildings, where our low-dust, low-noise process really proved itself.
Sparky joins full-time
Electrical comes in-house. Whole-unit renovations become our bread and butter, 14 of them that year.
Six of us, still one job at a time
230+ apartments done. Still quoting in writing, still cleaning corridors daily, still in Albion.
Four rules that have survived every job
Not a manifesto: just the stuff we actually do, written down.
Quote it, then honour it
A fixed price means fixed. If we missed something in the scope, that's our problem, not your invoice.
Photograph the hidden bits
Membrane, flashing, wiring, framing: you get photos of everything before it gets sealed up forever.
Leave it like a home
Corridors vacuumed daily, rubbish out by 4pm, your lift pads removed when we go. Neighbours remember this stuff.
Say the awkward thing early
Bad wiring behind a wall? Your tile choice will crack? We tell you on day one, not in the final invoice.
Nine years in numbers
The six people who'll actually be in your home
No revolving door of subcontractors. These are the faces: the same crew from day one to handover.
Dan Casinny
Owner · Site lead · Carpenter
Does every quote and every handover personally. Allergic to "she'll be right".
Marco Fellini
Cabinetmaker · Tiler
The reason our mitred edges line up. Been fitting kitchens since before Dan had a ute.
Rob Ashwell
Licensed electrician
Came in-house in 2023. Rewires units without cutting half your walls open.
Sam Tierney
Painter · Plasterer
Can match a ten-year-old wall texture blindfolded. Handles all our skim work.
Lena Kowalski
Project coordinator
Your weekly photo updates, the body corporate paperwork, the lift bookings, all Lena.
Dave Nguyen
Flooring · Strip-out lead
Floors 60 m² a day when the underlay behaves. Also the reason strip-outs stay quiet.
Jobs we're still proud of
A handful from the last two years: drag through and ask us about any of them.
I don't want to be the biggest reno company in Brisbane. I want the building managers to stop groaning when they hear our name, and they have.
Want this crew on your job?
We take one renovation at a time, so there's usually a short wait, get in early.
